Use the form on this page. It is the fastest route to us and the only channel we promise a response on.

We reply within two business days, and usually a good deal sooner. Replies come from our own address, so if you have not heard back in three days, check your spam folder before assuming the message went missing.

We do not publish an email address anywhere on this site. A published address gets harvested by spam bots within days, and the messages that matter — yours — end up buried underneath that. The form reaches exactly the same inbox.

Three things to include

These turn a three-message exchange into a single reply:

  • The email address you used at checkout. It is how we find your order.
  • Your order number, if you still have it. If you do not, the email address on its own is enough.
  • What you have already tried, if it is a technical problem. It saves us suggesting something you ruled out yesterday.

What to write to us about

Your order

A download that did not arrive, a link that expired, a file that will not open, or a receipt you need again. These are all quick fixes and we resend without asking questions.

Refunds

Inside 14 days, tell us in one line what fell short and we refund you in full — see the Refund Policy. Delivery and file problems are put right with no time limit at all.

Using the fillable edition

Fields that will not calculate, totals that stay at zero, printing that comes out the wrong size. Tell us which viewer and which device and we can usually name the fix immediately.

A correction

If a figure looks wrong to you, please say so. Point us at the page and, if you have one, the source. Corrections get published rather than buried.

Licensing

Guides are licensed for one household. If you want to use one with a team, a class or clients, write to us — we are happy to arrange it, we just need it in writing.

A room we have not covered

Mudroom, pantry, garage, entryway, linen closet. Tell us which room and what is wrong with yours. This genuinely decides what gets written next.

What we cannot help with

We want to be straight with you about this rather than leave you waiting for an answer we are not able to give.

  • We cannot assess your specific room. Not from a photograph, not from a description, not from a floor plan. Diagnosing a building requires someone standing in it.
  • We cannot identify mold, asbestos or lead paint. Anyone who offers to do that from a photo is guessing with your health.
  • We cannot tell you whether your wiring, plumbing or structure is safe. That is a licensed professional's call, every time.
  • We cannot give legal, tax, insurance or permitting advice, which varies by state, county and municipality.
  • We cannot quote your project. Local labor rates and your building's condition decide that, and only a contractor who has seen it can say.
